About me
Chrissy Guest is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies at Ithaca College. She earned her M.F.A in Creative Writing from Full Sail University and her B.S. in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Television Production from Empire State College. An award-winning educator, she received the University Film and Video Association Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019 and was a feature Entertainment Educator in Variety Magazine the same year. She is a 2013 faculty fellow of The Academy of Television & Science Foundation. She instructs courses focused on directing and television production using multi-camera techniques in studio and for remote on location live events. She also instructs courses in television series production and television series directing with a focus on socially conscious storytelling and character development.
Her broadcast career includes director/technical director, art-director, photojournalist, and assignment editor for broadcast news affiliates. She spent most of her time behind the camera as a photojournalist and director at NewsCenter 7 in Ithaca, and as a director/technical director at the ABC affiliate WSYR NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse, as well as art director and news assignment editor at WIXT CBS in Syracuse. She continues to work in scripted and broadcast television, producing sitcoms and web series. She produces, directs and manages production of a national PBS cooking show, The Sweet Life with Chris Xaver.
Guest’s research centers on career trajectory for women entering the animation field. Her award-winning short documentary film The Women of Titmouse Animation has had invitational screenings at Breaking the Glass Frame Symposium, University Film & Television Association, Los Angeles Animation Festival and Broadcast Educator’s Association.
