About me
Interests: Live TV production, streaming, the news industry, artificial intelligence, Cultivation Theory, framing, broadcast, digital platforms, and sometimes political media.
I received my Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2016). I teach broadcast and multimedia journalism classes at the University of Arkansas.
I used to work in management at CNN, produced for a bunch of local news stations before that, and I've recently freelanced for The Weather Channel and CNN Newsource. I also serve on the Board of Governors for the NATAS Mid-America Emmys. On top of this, I try to squeeze out at least two research projects per year and one independent video production.
I love to see students land the media job of their dreams. I hate it when the working conditions are so toxic that they leave the industry after two years (or less). This industry needs smart, ethical, talented people more than ever.
