Beyond Traditional Media Writing: Integrating Social Media Shows to Bridge Professional Writing Skills
Monday April 20, 2026 3:15pm - 4:15pm PDT
This panel presents an innovative media writing curriculum that integrates traditional professional writing skills with current social media production. Students learn essential formats (news articles, broadcast readers, press releases, scripts) then collaborate on four-episode social media shows, rotating through roles as writer, videographer, social media coordinator, and public relations specialist. This hands-on approach reinforces writing basics while applying skills within today's media practices, preparing students for dynamic media careers.
